Farm animals
Arthur Lodge are happy to arrange routine visits for farm animals at regular intervals and can carry out medical and surgical treatments together with fertility work. Exotics such as deer and South American camelids can also be cared for in addition to the more usual farm animals.
The practice is able to prepare herd and flock plans for any farm in the format required by Farm Assurance Schemes.
We are also the local veterinary inspectors for DEFRA and can carry out routine regulatory testing for cattle, sheep and goats as well as export certification.
We have an extensive pharmacy at our Horsham surgery and receive daily deliveries from a national veterinary wholesaler.
All POM-V and POM-VPS medicines are available to our farm clients and if the medicine you require is not in stock then next day delivery can be arranged (weekdays only). Collection is available from any of the branch surgeries.
Advice on correct and responsible use of veterinary medicines in food producing animals is available to all our clients.
In order to satisfy the legally required record keeping of all medicines going through the pharmacy, the labelling requirements, and the veterinary authorisation of each sale, we require that all drug requests be ordered at least three hours before collection wherever possible.
Please note that veterinary surgeons are only permitted to supply Prescription Only Medicines (POM-V) to treat 'animals under our care'. If POM-V drugs are requested and no records are on file of recent examination of the relevant class of livestock, we are required to visit, assess the situation and advise accordingly before prescribing. This is to ensure responsible prescribing and administration of medicines to food producing animals in the UK.
